Motorola has announced it will host an online launch event next week to unveil what many believe will be the long-rumored Moto Edge+. The manufacturer shared Monday, a tweet detailing that the “E-vent” will take place April 22 at 11 a.m. CDT (12 p.m. ET/9 a.m. PT).
The teaser video shows a quick shot of a curved edge device, which could be a staunch giveaway of the Motorola Moto Edge+. The device is expected to have a dual-curved screen as its highlight feature and if announced will be Motorola’s first flagship smartphone since 2018.
Rumors suggest the device may feature a 6.67-inch curved “waterfall” display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip to enable 5G, 8GB and 12GB RAM options, 5,170mAh battery, and stock Android 10, in addition to a triple camera set up may include a 108-megapixel lens, a 16-megapixel lens, and an 8-megapixel lens, and a 25-megapixel front camera. The device is set to be a Verizon exclusive.
There is also word Motorola may release a midrange model called the Moto Edge; however, it remains unclear whether the two devices will be announced together as a series or if the truncated Edge may release at a later date.
The Motorola Moto Edge may have a display similar to the Plus model in addition to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 midrange chip, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage with microSD expansion, a 16-megapixel sensor, and an 8-megapixel sensor, as well as a 25-megapixel lens for the front camera, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a 4500mAh battery.
Motorola originally intended to showcase new products at Mobile World Congress in February, which was ultimately canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
