Qualcomm’s latest mobile chip is the Snapdragon 768G, intended to bring 5G connectivity to even cheaper devices on the market. Upon its announcement, the Redmi K30 5G Extreme Edition is among the first device powered by chip. The smartphone sells for about RMB 1,999 (approximately $282 USD).
The Snapdragon 768G is basically an updated version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G, which was announced in December 2019. While the older chip also powers 5G, the newer chip introduces other features to lower-cost devices, including 120Hz displays, Bluetooth 5.2, and the ability to update Adreno GPU drivers.
The Snapdragon 768G CPU is clocked up to 2.8GHz and its Adreno 620 GPU up to 725 MHz. It features the Snapdragon X52 model to enable both mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G with 3.7Gbps downlink speeds and uplink speeds up to 1.6 Gbps.
