“Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G now certified by FCC ahead of expected September 30 launch”

The Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G appear to be one step closer to launch as several models of both devices recently surfaced at the FCC, indicating LTE and 5G band support for major U.S. carriers.

The listings fall under the FCC IDs A4RGD1YQ, A4RGTT9Q, A4RG025E, and A4RG025I, which are associated with Google products. Several model numbers also reveal details between the Pixel Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 respectively.

The FCC listings indicate certification for the Pixel 4a 5G under the model numbers G025E, G025I, and G025H. This falls in line with the original Pixel 4a, which has the model number G025J.

The Pixel 5 is certified under the model numbers GD1YQ, GTT9Q, and G5NZ6, which indicate the device has been tested for wireless power transfer (wireless charging). The GD1YQ, in particular, is also certified for mmWave 5G support under the bands n260 and n261.

While launch details for the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G have not yet been confirmed by Google several hints have surfaced in recent weeks. One report suggests that the devices may launch to market on September 30 in black and green color options for the Pixel 5 and a black color option for the Pixel 4a 5G, while a white Pixel 4a 5G may launch sometime in October. If accurate, this could mean an announcement event may take place prior to that date.

An earlier report suggested the devices may be available for preorder October 8th, which could also coincide with an announcement date. Google is known for hosting its major smartphone launches in the October timeframe. While these smartphones are not being marketed as premium flagships, they are the closest to a major Google product launch for 2020.

The Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G are expected to sell in markets including the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, France, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, and Australia when they launch.
