“Verizon prepaid price updates offer wireless service for as low as $30”

Verizon has updated its prepaid service prices with a $5 auto-pay discount to all plans that were originally $40 or more.

The low tier now offers 3GB of data for $35, the middle tier goes from 7GB to 8GB of data and is available for $45, and the unlimited plan is $65. The base tier with no added data is $30 per month for 500MB of data.

All the options include 4G mobile hotspot support, while the 8GB and unlimited options also include unlimited calling to Canada and Mexico. The new price offer is also now applicable to tablets and Jetpacks. Customers can now also add up to 10 lines per account.

This move is pretty big for Verizon as the company is infamous for its premium prices for mobile service. However, the network faces steep competition from rivals such as T-Mobile that already have fairly consumer-friendly prices for its prepaid plans. T-Mobile’s prepaid service starts at $45 for 4GB of data. The network also often offers discounts, making its standard prices even cheaper.

However, Verizon does benefit from having excellent coverage across the U.S., while T-Mobile continues to build its spectrum. Many consumers opt for the cheaper carrier options, simply because they were not available at Verizon. Now, the option is available.

With several new devices, such as the Razer Phone 2 and the OnePlus 2 supporting Verizon bands, customers also have the option to BYOD devices they weren’t able to before. Google’s new Pixel 3 is also a Verizon carrier exclusive. Keep in mind activation may be tricky, but most devices already have workarounds available.
