The cover display on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is set to be much larger than that of previous models according to a well-known industry analyst.
Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) claims that consumers can expect the upcoming pocket-sized foldable to have a cover display that is larger than 2-inches.
Young took to Twitter on Monday, explaining that the Galaxy Z Flip 4 will likely have a cover display that is larger than its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 3. Samsung’s current Galaxy Z Flip 3 features a cover display that is 1.9-inches in sizes, which means the cover display for the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is primed to exceed 2-inches.
Samsung has greatly upgraded the use of the cover display on the Galaxy Z Flip 3. It serves as a high-definition screen for notifications, time, battery percentage, texts and selfie previews. Adding an even larger cover display to the content creator driven device seems like a great way to boost its purpose even further.
Design-wise, the general cover display area on the Galaxy Z Flip 3 also houses the rear dual camera system on the smartphone. One guess could be that the widening of the cover display for the Galaxy Z Flip 4 might be connected to a camera upgrade of some sort. Exactly how remains uncertain, but more powerful lenses or additional lenses could be some options.
Currently, most other details on the Galaxy Z Flip 4 remain scarce; however, reports from GalaxyClub have indicated that the new foldable might feature a 3,400mAh battery, a boost of just 100mAh from that of the Galaxy Z Flip 3. With one of the critiques of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 being its unreliable battery life, a slight upgrade could make a world of difference. Samsung could also be looking to maintain a compact design on this device, as its marketability is overall dependent on its size. It’s specs and shape are unlikely to change that much.
The dimensions of the unfolded Galaxy Z Flip 3 are 166 x 72.2 x 6.9 mm, while its weight it 183g. Even a slightly larger battery could increase its width and thickness, as well as its weight, depending on the materials used.
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is expected to release during the second half of 2022, potentially between August and September.
