The Leica Cine 1 laser TV is currently available in for U.S. as the brand’s first option for this market.
The projector is available in 100-inch and 120-inch lens options in the U.S., which projects out into 100-inch and 120-inch displays, with a 4K UHD resolution. Images direct out through a triple laser RBG with a maximum brightness of 3,000 lumens and a BT.2020 coverage greater than 95 percent.
The Leica Cine 1 also supports Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, and Google TV as its operating system. The projector is also able to detect the source of whatever type of audio or visual style is being displayed. For example, I got to see the movie being demoed Top Gun: Maverick in its HD display and in IMAX, which showcases a larger aspect ratio no black bars.
It includes several onboarded apps including Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney Plus, as well as a live TV option. Transitioning between inputs with its companion aluminum controller is quick and seamless.
Leica says intends the laser TV as an option for bedrooms and living rooms as opposed to home theaters. Noting that the projector should be relatively the same height as the screen, the lasers in the Cine 1 flow up to meet screen.
The Cine 1 has a close proximity to the display, which allows for a high level of clarify on screen as well a uniform brightness. The Cine 1 resolves many of the common challenges of standard projectors, which are often set up in the back of a room and usually display onto a large wall, showcasing all imperfections or casting shadows of those walking in front of the stream.
Ports on the Cine 1 include two HDMI 2.1, two USB 3.0, a Ethernet RJ45 port, a RF tuner, a S/PDIF jack, a CI+ slot, and an earphone jack. The Cine 1 can run for 25,000 hours, which equates to a lifespan of over 20 years.
The Leica Cine 1 is available for $899.50 in its 100-inch model and $949.50 in its 120-inch model at Online, at Leica retail stores, and other participating retailers, including B&H.
