The Xiaomi Mi 9 is now official as one of the first devices announced running the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. The affordable flagship has an impressive price tag, starting at just $445.
The Xiaomi Mi 9 processor isn’t its only impressive feature. The device also includes a triple-camera set up with a 48-megapixel standard lens with f/1.75 aperture, a 16-megapixel wide-angle lens, and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens that with 2x zoom. The camera has already been rated higher than the Galaxy Note 9, Pixel 3, and iPhone XS Max, by DxOMark. It also features a 20-megapixel front camera.
The Xiaomi Mi 9 display is a 6.39-inch AMOLED with 2280 x 1080 resolution, a 19:9 aspect ration, 395ppi pixel density, and Gorilla Glass 6. Other hardware includes an Adreno 640 GPU, 6GB, 8GB, and 12GB RAM options and 128GB and 256GB internal storage options, a 3,300mAh battery, and a USB-C port with 27W wired charging and 20W wireless charging.
Its connectivity includes Wi-Fi 802.11 ac 4×4 MIMO, NFC, LTE with VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/AGPS/GLONASS/BeiDou. The device also supports dual nano SIM and an in-display fingerprint sensor; however, it is not water resistant.
Color options include Ocean Blue, Lavender Violet, and Piano Black. The latter will have a transparent design, which appears to show off the internal features of the device, similar to the Xiaomi Mi 8.
While the Xiaomi Mi 9 won’t be available in the U.S., it will release in various Western markets, including the U.K.
Its price breakdown is 2,999 Chinese yuan ($455/€395) for the 6GB RAM/128GB internal storage model, 3,299 yuan ($490/€430) for the 8GB RAM/128 GB internal storage model, and 3,999 yuan ($595/€525) for the 12GB RAM/256GB internal storage transparent black model.
The Xiaomi Mi 9 is expected to release to market in March and will be showcased at MWC 2019 next week.
