The LG G8 ThinQ will soon be available to consumers with its release date slated for April 11 and preorders starting March 29. The flagship smartphone will be available at carriers and retailers, including AT&T, Best Buy, B&H, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile. The device retails for $819.99 through LG and has a standard release discount of $150; however, other retailers may have their own prices and promotional deals.
LG G8 ThinQ carrier deals
T-Mobile is opening preorders for the LG G8 on April 5 and releasing the device to marker April 12. The carrier is offering $200 off the device and up to $310 off with an eligible trade in or when adding a new line. Subscribers will receive the discount via bill credits added to their accounts each month. The standard price for the LG G8 at T-Mobile is $619.99 or $25.84 per month for 24 months.
Sprint will open preorders for the LG G8 on March 29 and release the device on April 12. With Sprint’s Flex lease agreement and the addition of a new line, the LG G8 payment plan can be as low as $15 per month for 18 months, with the option to trade in for a new device or to pay off the rest of the smartphone balance. Additionally, subscribers can get a $150 prepaid MasterCard when they spend $75 on accessories. Sprint is charging $840 for the LG G8 at full retail.
Verizon will open preorders for the LG G8 on April 1 and release the device on April 11. The device will sell for $35 per month for 24 months under a payment plan or $840 full retail. New customers can get up to $450 when switching to Verizon and trading in an old phone and up to can get a $200 prepaid MasterCard when subscribing to a payment plan. New customers can also get $350 in bill credits when subscribing to a payment plan. Verizon is allowing customers to combine its offers, which essentially means subscribers can earn money when choosing the LG G8. Current Verizon subscribers can get up to $200 when trading in an old device.
AT&T will open preorders for the LG G8 on March 29 and release the device on April 12. The device is selling for $830 full retail but new customers can get the device for free with bill credits when opening a installment plan and choosing a data plan that costs at least $50 per month. A common payment plan on AT&T is its 30-month contract, which will offer the LG G8 for $27.67 per month.
LG G8 ThinQ highlight features
LG showcased a number of interesting features when it unveiled the LG G8 ThinQ at MWC 2019 in Barcelona. Among its highlights is its front-facing Time-of-Flight “Z Camera,” which enables a host of features, including Air Motion commands and Hand ID. The Air Motion commands are gesture controls that allow users to execute various convenience functions without having to touch their device screen. Users can answer or decline calls, stop or snooze alarms and timers, take selfies and and screen captures, open apps, and control media apps with Air Motion.
Hand ID users the Z Camera to scan the unique layout of veins in a user’s hand as a biometric security option. In addition to its Hand ID, the LG G8 also features 3D Face Unlock powered by the Z Camera and a rear-facing capacitive fingerprint sensor.
The LG G8 ThinQ also has interesting audio upgrades, such as its “Crystal Sound” OLED that emits sound through the device’s screen, eliminating the need for front-facing speakers. The device supports boombox speaker quality, super far field voice recognition, 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, and DTS:X 3D surround sound.
LG G8 ThinQ hardware
Basic hardware specs on the LG G8 include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip, a 6.1-inch QHD+ display with an 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 3120×1440 resolution, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage with microSD expansion up to 2TB, a 3,500mAh battery with a USB-C port and Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, and a Google Assistant key. The device runs the Android 9 Pie operating system. Durability ratings include the MIL-STD-810G military standard and IP68 for water and dust resistance.
Its dual-camera set up includes a 16-megapixel wide angle lens at f/1.9 aperture and a 12-megapixel standard lens at f/1.5 aperture, as an 8-megapixel front lens at f/1.7 aperture and the “Z camera.” The camera support features including HDR10, Night View, AI CAM for scene recognition, and Google Lens.
The LG G8 ThinQ will be available in Carmine Red, New Aurora Black, New Platinum Gray color options that will vary by retailer.
