Google and Apple were busy Monday pushing out the latest beta versions of their upcoming software updates. There are new developer previews available, not only for Android P but also for iOS and MacOS. There are the details for the new software.
Android P
Google has released Android P Beta 3 to the public. For registered testers, this is Developer Preview 4. The software is compatible with Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, and Pixel 2 XL and will begin hitting devices wirelessly as of Monday. Google is also working with several manufacturers, including Sony, Xiaomi, Nokia, Oppo, and OnePlus to bring the beta software to their top devices in the coming weeks. One partner, Essential has released the Android P beta and the Android July security patches on its flagship device, the Essential Phone as of Monday.
Google has revealed that Android P is close to being at its final version and its official rollout is expected in the third quarter, which falls between July and September. Reports indicate that Nokia plans to release Android P for several of its devices sometime in August. This could mean the official release may take place within the next four to eight weeks.
iOS/macOS
The fifth beta version of iOS 11.4.1 is now available for compatible iPhone, iPad, iPod touch models, while the fifth beta version of macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 is now available for various Mac laptop and computer models. Users can access the new software through Apple’s developer center or as a wireless update for already registered testers. Public versions of the beta software should be available in the coming days.
