The Honor View 20 smartphone is now official with a 48-megapixel camera as its highlight feature. The device has been around for some time, but Honor has done staggered launches for the different markets where the device will be available. There was an Asia launch in Beijing in December 2018 and now a European launch in Paris on Tuesday.
The View 20 is a solid device that should meet the needs of Honor’s core youth demographic. The device is currently selling in China and will soon launch to select European, Middle Eastern, and Asian countries starting at 569 Euros. U.S. availability for the Honor View 20 is unlikely at this time.
Design
I got a short hands-on with the Honor View 20 during CES 2019 in Las Vegas earlier this month. Design-wise the View 20 hits a home run with vibrant colors and an interesting “Aurora nanotexture aesthetic” going down the back panel. Color options include midnight black and sapphire blue as well as phantom blue and phantom red for a MOSCHINO-branded pro model that has a higher memory and storage capacity.

As one of the first devices in the market to feature the infamous hole-punch display, Honor has really played up this feature, noting that at 4.5mm, the sensor hole is smaller than current rivals with a similar design.
Camera
The 48-megapixel camera has a 3D TOF (time-of-flight) sensor that enables a host of features. These include 3D photography, 3D shaping, and depth detection for an improved gaming experience, and AI calorie counting feature that allows users to get approximate nutrition information for food by displaying items in the camera viewfinder. Overall, the View 20 camera favors well-lit areas for the best photography. Its front-facing camera is a 25-megapixel lens.

Other highlighted features on the Honor View 20 include a liquid cooling system and GPU Turbo 2.0 booster for gaming, triple antenna Wi-Fi, and AI Dual-frequency GPS.

General hardware specs include 64-inch 1080 x 2310 display, Huawei Kirin 980 chip, a 4,000mAH battery, USB-C, Android 9.0 with an Honor Magic UI overlay. The Honor View 20 is not water resistant but does include a rear-facing fingerprint scanner and a headphone jack.
The standard Honor View 20 model features 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, while the MOSCHINO model features 8GB of RAM and 256GB internal storage, and will sell for 649 Euros.
