Many carriers are now enabling their mobile 5G services, but devices that are compatible with the new network remain in limited supply. Samsung’s 5G powered flagship, the Galaxy S10 5G may not be available to U.S. consumers for over another month, if reports are to be believed.
Tech informant, Evan Blass recently shared on Twitter that the Galaxy S10 5G may launch on Verizon’s new ultra wideband network on May 16. Without any further detail, this is as close as we’ve gotten to details about the launch of this device on an American carrier.
Verizon may be staggering its launch of the Galaxy S10 5G to give the Motorola Moto Z3 some shine time as the first 5G enabled mobile device on the carrier. Once available, the Galaxy S10 5G will be a Verizon exclusive for several weeks until AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile announce their release plans and begin the launch of their networks. AT&T’s 5G network is currently available, essentially as a public beta with the Netgear Nighthawk 5G hotspot as its hardware. An Official rollout is expected in the Spring. Meanwhile, the carrier has gotten a lot of flack for adding a 5G E or 5G Evolution logo to its devices that are not compatible with 5G. Studies have shown that AT&T’s 5G E networks are just as fast as the fastest LTE speeds currently on the market. Sprint is expected to launch its 5G network in May in Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, and Kansas City, while T-Mobile is set to enable its network during the second half of 2019.
