Samsung’s third 5G smartphone, the Galaxy A90 is now on the market for under $800. Having been announced and released last week, the device is currently available in South Korea, selling for KRW 900,000 or about $740.
The Galaxy A90 is Samsung’s first non-premium 5G smartphone, though it runs the flagship tier Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip. Samsung’s A series is known for mixing high-end and mid-range specs for overall cheaper models. Many have compared the mid-range 5G smartphone to both the Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy A70.
The Galaxy A90 also features a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with an Infinity-U notch, 6GB, and 8GB RAM options and 128GB of internal storage, a 4,500mAh battery with 25W super-fast charging, Android Pie with Samsung’s One UI 1.5, and black and white color options.
The Galaxy A90 features a triple camera set up with a 48-megapixel main lens, an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens, and a 5-megapixel depth lens. It also includes a 32-megapixel front-facing camera.
Other features include an on-screen fingerprint sensor and facial recognition. Both are traditionally premium features that are now making their way to the midrange. The device has a USB-C port but has also lost its 3.5mm audio jack, much like many flagship devices.
The Galaxy A90 supports 5G non-standalone NDA and Sub 6 technologies, making it ideal for international markets, such as South Korea. If the device were to run in the U.S. it would have its best luck on the Sprint network.
