“TCL at CES 2020: Smartphone previews include 5G mobile and foldable update”

Las Vegas — TCL has brought to CES 2020, a number of smartphones that will serve as its early-year signature devices, including a 5G smartphone, which will sell for under $500 when released.

The upcoming 10 series will include the TCL 10 Pro, the TCL 10 L, and TCL 10 5G. These smartphones will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 chip, to enable the next-generation connectivity standard.

TCL 10 series

Other feature highlights include quad-camera setups on all models and TCL’s XTVISION visual technology for the Pro and L which will aid in brilliant display quality. These devices will have a curved-edge Infinity display, while the 5G models will have a flat display.

Color options include a reflective black and white for the 5G models and a matte teal and black for the Pro and L models.

TCL plans to share more details about its 10 series on February 22 during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The devices will then be available to the market in the US and Canada during the second quarter of 2020.

TCL Foldable with Dragonhinge technology

TCL also showcased the latest developments of its Dragonhinge technology, which is the preamble to its foldable devices. While the device showcased as CES remains a prototype, the concept model showcases an intricate spine that supports the foldable display that is similar to Samsung, with a sturdy back and two outer shells that would ensure that the foldable display does not move in an unnecessary manner.

However, where the foldable concept differentiates from other foldable is that its shape is not quite clamshell-style but also not quite booklet-style. TCL has dressed the foldable in an interesting reflective green color and diamond-cut design.

The foldable also includes a quad-camera set up on the outer shell and a USB-C port. Currently, TCL has no concrete details on if and when it’s Dragonhinge foldable will release as a viable product to market.
