“LG enables the new V60 ThinQ with a dual-screen and primary 5G options”

LG is continuing its next-generation connectivity lineup with the LG V60 ThinQ 5G, which will be available in the coming weeks on AT&T, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and Verizon and will sell only in a 5G model.

As a follow up to the LG G8X, which released in October 2019, the LG V60 ThinQ 5G has brought back its dual-screen setup with a 6.8-inch 20.5:9 FHD+ P-OLED display for the handset and a matching attachment. The main display includes a tear-drop notch and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

LG has also designed the dual-screen attachment with a textured back for better grip and strengthened hinge so the accessory stands well in all configurations. There is also a 2.1-inch cover display for notifications.

Opting for a larger display was an interesting option for a device that will be available in only one size model. For this reason, the dual-screen accessory is unique to the V60. While connected, the device supports a wide view, which spreads apps across both displays. Currently, the feature works primarily with Google apps including Chrome, Gmail Maps, Photos, and YouTube, among others.

Hardware for the LG V60 ThinQ 5G includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip with an X55 5G modem, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage with microSD expansion up to 2TB, and a 5,000mAh, an overall upgrade from the LG G8X.

With a creativity highlight, the LG V60 ThinQ 5G includes a triple-camera setup, which includes a 64-megapixel main lens, a 13-megapixel super-wide-angle lens, and a “Z camera” ToF depth sensor. It also includes a 10-megapixel front camera.

The V60 supports 8K video capture, which LG hopes will future proof content for when other compatible mediums are readily 8K available. The device uses its four high-performance microphones to enable features, such as 3D Sound Engine, which can identify audio for optimization, and Voice Bokeh, which allows users to focus on voices in video recordings and to minimizes background noise.

LG also maintains 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC support on the V60 as well as a 3.5mm audio jack. Other notable features include USB-C with USB 3.1 compatibility, Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+, HDR10+ video capture, IP68 water and dust resistance, LG Pay, and FM Radio. The device runs the Android 10 operating system.

LG V60 ThinQ 5G blue and white color options

Design-wise, the V60 has a sleek and glossy finish and will be available in Classy Blue and Classy White color options. Its dimensions are 169.3 x 77.6 x 8.9mm and 218g in weight.

While LG has not revealed pricing for its new smartphone, it has mentioned that the device with its added accessory will sell for less than the base model Samsung Galaxy S20, which is priced at $999. The previous LG V50 ThinQ 5G sells for the same price but does not include a dual-screen accessory, while the LG G8X sells for $699.99 unlocked. The V60 will likely release somewhere in that price range.

Most carriers will sell models that support the Sub-6 5G network. However, Verizon will also release a model that supports Ultra Wide Band mmWave 5G, which will likely be more expensive.
