Google recently released the first set of beta software for its upcoming Android 11 system update. Among many new features, including a conversation tab in notifications, chat bubbles, and an added screen recorder, the tech giant has announced 117 new emoji will be available to mobile devices running the software. The devices currently eligible for the Android 11 beta include the Pixel 4, Pixel 3a, Pixel 3, and Pixel 2.
These emoji are among those released in Unicode’s Emoji 13.0 update earlier this year. Some highlighted emoji include a Smiling Face with Tear and Pinched Fingers. Many of the new additions are the same emoji in different skin tones. Check out the full list and video of the emoji update below.
While Android beta testers will be able to try out the new emojis, they won’t be available to a wider range of users until Android 11 officially releases in the fall. Even still users will be at the mercy of disjointed Android updates and having to wait until the system is available on future devices.
Apple users may have to wait just a little bit longer as well to get a taste of the new emojis as well. The rival is expected to announce its own latest software, iOS 14 at its upcoming World Wide Developer’s Conference later this month. The new iPhone and iPad software are sure to also include these new emoji offerings.
