“T-Mobile will carry the new Motorola Razr 5G this fall”

The latest foldable smartphone is now the Motorola Razr 5G and it will sell at T-Mobile this fall for $1399.99. Motorola appears to have taken lessons from the original, Verizon exclusive Motorola Razr, and made a cheaper, more aesthetic, and easier to use model that also powers 5G.

Motorola Razr 5G color options

The Motorola Razr 5G will be available in Graphite and Blush Gold color options on T-Mobile, but will also be available at AT&T and unlocked at Amazon, B&H Photo, and Best Buy in the U.S. Internationally, the device will be available in China, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and the Asia Pacific. There will also be a Liquid Mercury color option.

One of the main features of the Motorola Razr 5G, its foldable display, remains largely unchanged. It has a 6.2-inch pOLED display with a 21:9 aspect ratio, which Motorola claims can support up to 200,000 flips, or up to five years of use. It also includes a 2.7-inch Quick View display, which benefits from a number of feature tweaks, including easy scrolling through messages and notifications, several reply options, including a full keyboard and voice messages, and as well as easy access to apps and shortcuts, including Spotify and Google Maps, among others.

Externally, the device is outfitted with Gorilla Glass 5, as well as a 7000 Series aluminum alloy frame and a uses stainless steel. Its fingerprint scanner is now located in the Motorola “M” logo on the back of the foldable. The original model featured the scanner on its chin.

Original Motorola Razr foldable

It’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chip allows the Motorola Razr 5G to sell at a lower price than the inaugural device, which sold for $1,500 without 5G connectivity. Other standard hardware includes 8GB RAM, 256GB flash storage, and a 2,800 mAh battery with a 15W fast charger, all slight power bumps from the original. Its cameras are also boosted up to a 48-megapixel main lens on the front cover and a 20-megapixel selfie on the inner panel. The device also features a single bottom-firing speaker, four microphones, and a Dual SIM with one Nano-SIM and one eSIM.

Software-wise the Motorola Razr 5G runs Android 10 with a My UX, which is guaranteed to receive two major OS upgrades, as well as two years of bi-monthly security updates.
