“Pixel 6 Leaks Show Major Smartphone Redesign”

Many details are shaping a solid look at the upcoming Pixel 6 smartphone. Now, we are getting a visual look, thanks to render leaks from tech informant, Jon Prosser.

The leakster recently shared images of what are reportedly renders of the Google Pixel 6 and the Google Pixel 6 Pro, based on real hands-on photos of the smartphones. Google appears to be ditching its XL naming scheme for the larger device in favor for Pro, which is a lot more common among smartphone brands.

The images show intimate details of the devices, including a protruding camera hump and thin bezels, mostly flat display with a centered hole-punch for the front camera. The Pixel 6 features a dual-lens camera set up, while the Pixel 6 Pro a triple lens camera setup.

There wasn’t much in terms of specs, though the leak confirms an in-display fingerprint sensor. Prosser said the renders copied everything that could be taken from the hands-on look, from the wallpaper to the clock and weather layout.

He also said the color schemes for the Pixel 6 devices are dual toned, and are reminiscent of older Pixel devices. One model featured the orange and white color from the Pixel 4, while another featured soft peach tones from the original Pixel. There is also a champagne colored model.

Google appears to be revamping the look of its devices along with its internal specs. Rumors indicate that the tech giant is investing its own in-house chip, which is currently being referred to internally as “Whitechapel.”

Of course, Google is known for its Android ecosystem. The latest Android 12 is set to be unveiled on May 18 at the Google I/O keynote

PhoneArena noted that Google’s moves, if they prove to be accurate, would essentially give consumers an Android version of an iPhone. The Pixel 6 would be a high profile device with custom internal hardware, a custom external design, and custom software.

Google CEO, Sundar Pichai has said that the company plans to release a release a Pixel 5 successor in October 2021. Many note that we can potentially expect a launch anywhere between September 30 and October 15, considering those were the respective launch dates of the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4.
