TCL has introduced at Mobile World Congress on Thursday, an interesting technology that allows users to project a full 140-inch display with a 16:9 aspect ratio from a pair of glasses.
The TCL NXTWEAR G wearable display glasses are a plug and play product that the Chinese manufacturer says can be used for watching movies, gaming, or in private spaces at home, work, or during a commute.
Internally, the frames feature dual 1080p high-definition Sony FHD Micro OLED panels. Externally, the glasses are all-black and frameless for a high-end design. This also allows users to maintains a degree of peripheral vision and interact with their work and their outside world, TCL said.
“Now is the perfect time to challenge the established, disconnected, single-screen scenario across price points. In the premium space, NXTWEAR G Smart Glasses become an extension of your smart device and transport you to a private viewing party wherever you are, ” CEO at TCL Communication Aaron Zhang said in a statement.
“Looking at its broader portfolio, TCL’s accessibly priced high-end devices, including the TCL 20 Pro 5G, will provide even more value in the coming months, with rich Multi-Screen Collaboration rolling out in future software updates,” he added.
Functionality of the NXTWEAR G wearable display glasses does not require an app. Users only need to plug their smartphone into a USB-C display-out port to project out 3D 4K quality video.
The frames will be compatible with over 100 smartphones, including the latest TCL 20 Pro 5G, as well as hybrid two-in-one devices, and laptops.
Availability will begin in Australia next month with other select markets soon following.
