A new leak has surfaced showcasing a device by HMD Global that is expected to be announced as soon as July 27.
Murmurs of a device called the Nokia XR20 recently came upon the tech circuit, suggesting that the smartphone would have a rugged design, and thus not needing the extra protection of a case.
The newly leaked image, which originates from the Nokia Community forum, shows a lot more detail as the handset is doused in water. There is a square camera module with what appears to be a multi-lens setup and a blue color option.
The Nokia branding is clearly visible on the back panel of the device, as are its USB-C port, speaker grille, main microphone, and 3.5mm headphone jack. There is also a power button rather prominent on the left side of the handset.
Media reports also indicate that a listing for the Nokia XR20 was discovered on the Wi-Fi Alliance website, revealing its model number is TA-1362. Meanwhile, a number of detailed specifications were uncovered from a Russian e-commerce website.
In particular, the website revealed that the unreleased smartphone may have an IP68 water (and dust) resistance rating, which lends to its rugged classification.
Rumored features for the Nokia XR20 include a 6.67-inch FHD+ display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 chip, and Adreno 619 GPU, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, a 4,630mAh battery, and Android 11. Many suspect it will likely have expandable storage and fast charging support, but these features have not yet been indicated.
Its camera setup is rumored as a 48-megapixel main lens and a 13-megapixel secondary lens. Other features may include 5G connectivity, 4G LTE, NFC support, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, and dual-SIM support.
Overall, the Nokia XR20 would be a budget device with 5G capability due to its processor. With the prospective launch date being so soon, the specs are likely locked in, but they cannot be confirmed. HMD has yet to make an announcement about a product launch.
