Microsoft has confirmed that it will host a virtual launch event on September 22, where several new devices are expected to be unveiled.
Many are especially curious to see if Microsoft will confirm a Surface Duo 2 folding smartphone. The device would be a second-generation model to its Surface Duo, which originally launched in October 2019. The handset, which is designed like a double-display tablet, but makes calls like a smartphone, has a number of prospective features circulating already.
Rumored specs for the Surface Duo 2 include a higher-refresh-rate for its dual displays, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chip, 8GB of RAM, a triple camera system, Android 11 software, and 5G connectivity.
Microsoft might also announce some high-spec laptops during the launch, including the Surface Laptop Pro and Surface Pro X. These devices currently have minimal details available; however, the Surface Laptop Pro is rumored to have a 14-inch display, and the Surface Pro X is expected to be available only in Wi-Fi models.
Additionally, Microsoft may announce other laptops, including the Surface Pro 8 and the Surface Go 3. The Surface Pro 8 might feature 11th-gen chips and a display with a high-refresh-rate, while the Surface Go 3 might feature an Intel Pentium Gold 6500Y or Intel Core i3-10100Y chip, depending on whether it has LTE connectivity.
Microsoft is set to launch its latest Windows 11 software on October 5 and plans to further discuss features for the update during the upcoming product launch.
