Japanese manufacturer, Sharp is still in the smartphone game, and its latest device is the Sharp Aquos zero6, which features a 240Hz refresh rate display among its highlight features.
Sharp claims that at approximately 146g it is one of the lightest 5G smartphones to hit the market. Its lightness claim is relative to its size, in comparison to other devices on the market.
The Sharp Aquos zero6 features a 6.4-inch HD+ OLED display and a 4,010 mAh battery, which can easily pack on some weight. GSMArena noted that the iPhone 13 mini is 141g, featuring a 5.4-inch display, and the iPhone 12 mini is lighter still at 135g, also featuring a 5.4-inch display and a 2,227mAh battery.
Still, Sharp’s efforts to boast thinness and lightness in the Aquos zero6 are not lost, considering other aspects. Its camera module does not protrude too much. In addition to a larger size, Sharp’s device has more components, such as a triple camera set up, compared to the dual-cameras on the iPhone 12 and 13 mini. The Aquos zero6 features a 48-megapixel main lens, an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens, and an 8-megapixel, telephoto lens, as well as a 12.6-megapixel front camera.
Overall, the device is upper mid-range, running a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G 5G chip. It features 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, with microSD expansion. Its 4,010mAh battery supports USB Power Delivery, allowing it to obtain a full charge in 2 hours and 10 minutes.
It also runs Android 11 and supports both sub-6 GHz and mmWave 5g networks. Other features include face recognition and fingerprint authentication and IPX5, IPX8, and IP6X dust and water resistance.
The Sharp Aquos zero6 is set to launch in early October through the Japanese carrier, SoftBank.
