“Upcoming MacBook Pro Rumor Suggests a Notch Design Like the iPhone”

Apple revealed on Tuesday that it would be hosting an “Unleashed” event on October 18, where it is expected to announce several new products, including 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, and a new AirPods 3 model.

This event reveal was so sudden there was very little time for leaks or rumors on the upcoming devices. One of the most recent suggests that the MacBook Pro models could feature a notch design similar to what is seen on the iPhones. Having originated randomly from the Chinese social media platform Weibo, many have not given the rumor much credence. However, indulging the idea for a moment, some Apple enthusiasts on Reddit noted that a notch would be ideal for housing features, including the 1080p webcam, True Tone sensor, and a microphone.

They also noted that some preliminary information that has already surfaced about the MacBook Pro models prior to launch, courtesy of MacRumors, suggests that their potential resolutions (3024 by 1964 and 3456 by 2234) and aspect ratio (16:10) would leave room for a notch. Doubling down on the notch idea is a rumor that Apple has plans to bring the design to the 2022 MacBook Air. None of these claims can be substaniated at this point. Luckily, it should be only a matter of days before Apple reveals its new MacBook Pro models.

Currently, there are no visual details about the MacBook Pro models to show off their design, but some other speculations suggest the new laptops might feature an updated version of Apple Silicon chip called M1X, Mini-LED displays, and additional ports, among other new features.

The Apple “Unleashed” Event takes place Monday, October 18 at 10 a.m. PDT (1 p.m. EDT).
