“OnePlus 10 Pro Now 5G Compatible with Verizon”

The OnePlus 10 Pro is now available globally and Verizon has confirmed its compatibility with the carrier’s C-Band 5G network.

Verizon customers will be able to use the OnePlus 10 Pro with the carrier’s “5G Get More,” “5G Play More,” or “5G Do More” plans, the first two, which start at $80 for a single line and the last, which starts at $90 for a single line. The $70 introductory “5G Start” option does not provide C-Band 5G support for the OnePlus 10 Pro.

Verizon’s “5G Start” plan uses only mmWave 5G, which is why the OnePlus 10 Pro support is not available.

Notably, Verizon has multiple 5G network options, including millimeter-wave (mmWave) 5G, and C-Band 5G. The carrier’s C-Band spectrum is newer and recently began to roll out in the U.S. in January, XDADevelopers noted. Verizon hoped to set itself apart with the more advanced mmWave technology; however, an OpenSignal study has shown that Verizon customers have been using the 5G network at a rate of only 0.5 percent. Additionally, Verizon’s own rollout of the 5G network has not been expansive enough to make much traction.

Meanwhile, C-Band technology might be Verizon’s opportunity to set up a more steady 5G network, as it has higher speeds. The short-range technology of mmWave means users need to be near the 5G towers in order to get adequate support. Signals can be interrupted by the slightest hindrance, including trees, buildings, cars, or windows, DigitalTrends noted.

Overall, Verizon’s C-Band 5G implementation is a plus for OnePlus because the OnePlus 10 Pro is now supported on Verizon and T-Mobile in the U.S.
