Apple could announce its next MacBook Pro series as soon as Tuesday, according to tech leakster Jon Prosser.
While several reports indicated that Apple’s MacBook Pro models featuring the M2 Pro and M2 Max proprietary chips could be delayed until June, the recent news suggests that the brand might release the new laptops without a flashy launch event. Instead, Apple might just put out a press release with details about the products.
The PCs are expected to come in 14-inch and 16-inch models, which is similar to the current M1 Pro and M1 Max MacBook Pro models. They have stood as Apple’s Pro laptops since October 2021; however, they have sold primarily during the 2022 timeframe with many details due to pandemic supply chain issues.
Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman has indicated that the M2 Pro and M2 Max MacBook Pro models will likely see only a small performance boost from the M1 Pro and M1 Max MacBook Pro models. The laptops might also be outfitted with more RAM; however, they are not expected to see any major design changes.
While this last-minute announcement leak has surfaced, details about Wi-Fi 6E support for the new MacBook Pro models have also come through, courtesy of Twitter leakster Wade Penner, who discovered the details on a Canadian Radio Equipment List database. The regulatory filing was approved on January 11, for a product with the model number A2779, describing the device as a MacBook Pro for its “product marketing name” and a laptop computer for its “equipment description.” It can only be assumed to be either the M2 Pro or M2 Max MacBook Pro at this point.
While the products cannot be confirmed until they are officially announced, often regulatory approval close to a is a good indicator that a device launch is coming soon.
