“Pixel Fold Pricing and Pre-Order Confirmed Ahead of Google I/O Launch”

The Pixel Fold is a little over one week from launch and recent details indicate that Google plans to drop a teaser video for its first foldable next week ahead of the unveiling.

Front Page Tech host Jon Prosser claims Google has plans to share the teaser next Wednesday, April 26th, which will coincide with a pre-order period for the Pixel Fold ahead of its official reveal. Prospective customers will be able to pre-order the foldable exclusively at Google Stores until its official launch, which is expected to take place on May 10 at the Google I/O developer’s conference.

Following the unveiling Prosser said Google plans to open wide-spread pre-order availability, which will include up to carriers, on May 30. Meanwhile, the Pixel Fold will go on sale on June 27. As a perk, the foldable is expected to sell with a free Pixel Watch.

The leakster also revealed a slew of other details about the Pixel Fold, including its final pricing, and also reiterated well-rumored specs. The Pixel Fold is expected to sell in a 256GB storage model that will come in chalk and obsidian color options, at $1,799, as well as in a 512GB storage model that will come in only an obsidian color option, at $1,919.

Specs for the Pixel Fold have been rumored for over two years but with a little over a week before its reveal, its features are likely locked in at this point. The device is expected to have a 5.8-inch FHD+ (1080 x 2092 resolution) OLED external display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 17.4:9 aspect ratio, and 408ppi. Meanwhile, the internal display is a 7.6-inch 1840 x 2208 resolution OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 380ppi. It is coated with Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) and an extra layer of plastic to protect its internals.

Dimensions of the devices are expected to be 5.5 x 3.1 x .5 inches and it will weigh approximately 283 grams (10 ounces). While many are comparing its weight to the Galaxy Z Fold 4, for which it is 20 grams heavier, its design language is comparable to that of the Oppo Find N, with a taller aspect ratio.

As has long been expected the Pixel Fold will likely be powered by the Google Tensor 2 chip and Titan M2 security chip, which were introduced on the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. Other hardware includes 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and battery life comparable to the Pixel 7 series that can exceed 24 hours.

The foldable is also set to come with several camera systems, including a triple camera setup in the rear, featuring a 48-megapixel main lens with an f/1.7 aperture and OIS, a 10.8-megapixel ultra-wide lens with an f/2.2 aperture and a 121.1-degree field of view (FoV), and another 10.8-megapixel telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom and up to 20x Super Res Zoom. The front-facing camera will be a 9.5-megapixel lens with an f/2.2 aperture, while the internal display camera will be an 8-megapixel lens with an f/2.0 aperture. Making for a total of five cameras on the Pixel Fold.

In addition to the video support for the rear camera, including 4K at 30fps and 1080p up to 60fps, the Pixel Fold is set to have a host of other branded camera features, most of which were introduced on prior Pixel models. These include Rear Camera Selfie, Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Long Exposure, and Real Tone.

Google has also resigned to putting a side-mounted fingerprint sensor on the Pixel Fold, integrated into the power button, instead of introducing an in-display fingerprint sensor. The device will retain its Face Unlock security feature; however, it likely won’t be powerful still to support verification for payment transactions and signing verifications, Phone Arena noted.
