“Pixel Buds Pro Feature Drop Includes AI Updates to Improve Sound Quality”

Google hosted its latest product showcase on Wednesday where it announced the Pixel 8 series smartphones and the Pixel Watch 2 wearable. It also detailed the updates that it is making to its Pixel Buds Pro wireless earbuds.

The Pixel Buds Pro has been on the market since May 2022 and sells for $199.99 but has steadily been improved with software updates. Google claims this feature drop is its biggest update ever, due to its AI-enabled features and improvements.

Pixel Buds Pro Feature Drop Highlights

  • The Clear Calling feature will get an update, allowing users to experience improvements in call quality on every call they receive without the need to press a button.
  • Google is introducing Bluetooth Super Wideband to the Pixel Buds Pro, which will double the bandwidth when the earbuds are connected to devices and will help voices sound more natural. This connectivity will assist Clear Calling to improve call quality even further.
  • Transparency mode will allow users to pause audio when needed to have in-person conversations without pressing a button or removing earbuds. Users can simply begin speaking to enable the feature.
  • The Pixel Buds Pro supports 50 percent reduced latency, an improvement for gaming.
  • The Pixel Fold will receive a dual-screen interpreter mode; a personal translator that supports up to 45 languages.

These are just some of the updates coming in the feature drop, which will be available today.

The Pixel Buds Pro is also getting some color option additions. They will be available in Porcelain and Bay Blue to match the Pixel 8 Pro. Google currently has a limited-time preorder deal offering the Pixel Buds or Pixel Watch 2 when purchasing a Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro before its official retail launch.
