The Google Pixel 9 series is now official, having been announced at a Made by Google event at the company’s campus in Mountain View, Calif. on Tuesday.
The new Pixel series includes the standard Pixel 9 model, the Pixel 9 Pro, the Pixel 9 Pro XL, and the Pixel 9 Fold. Google also showcased a new Pixel Watch 3, Pixel Buds Pro 2 earbuds, and a host of new AI features to accompany the latest hardware. Google called the launch the “biggest update ever made to the Pixel family.”
Notably, the brand’s product showcase has shifted to a late summer schedule in 2024 as opposed to the fall timeline of previous launches. Google teased that it has other announcements planned for later in the year, pertaining to its Project Astra AI ventures that it originally showcased during Google I/O in May. The coming launch will blend the new hardware with Project Astra’s technology
This allows for a bit of a staggered rollout of the Pixel 9 devices. All of the smartphones will be available for preorder as of August 13. However, the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL will be available to consumers on August 22, while the Pixel 9 Pro will be released on September 4, and the Pixel 9 Fold will be available in the coming weeks.
