“HP’s CES 2025 offering refines its commercial AI PC laptops”

HP has brought a host of PC offerings to CES 2025, not long after unveiling the branding reset of its consumer and business product lines late last year. The company is now showcasing the first incremental update of its EliteBook laptops.

HP introduced three next-gen AI PC options at the show. The EliteBook Ultra G1i, EliteBook X Flip G1i, and the EliteBook X G1i, all 14-inch notebooks.

The HP EliteBook Ultra G1i is powered by the Intel Lunar Lake processor. Made of recycled magnesium, it weighs only 1.1 kgs making it extremely light for a commercial product. It features a 14-inch 3K OLED display with touch and non-touch options and a 6.7-inch diagonal width touch pad that provides smooth tracking with the ability to click from anywhere. The webcam is a 9-megapixel 4K lens that supports HP’s Poly Camera Pro and Windows Studio Effects software.

The EliteBook Ultra G1i includes 16GB memory, and up to 32GB LPDDR5X, as well as storage options including 512GB up to 2TB PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe, 512 GB up to 1 TB PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe, and 256 GB up to 512 GB PCIe NVMe. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, and the device is powered by a 6-cell 64Wh battery.

Ports include two Thunderbolt 4 with USB-C ports and one Kensington Nano Slot on the right side, and one stereo headphone/microphone combo jack, one USB-A port, and one Thunderbolt 4 with USB-C on the left.

The HP EliteBook Ultra G1i will be available on HP.com later this month starting at $2,019.

The HP EliteBook X G1i has several design configurations, with the HP EliteBook X Flip G1i being a 2-in-1 variant of the device. The models are also available in an Atmospheric Blue as well as a Silver Magnesium colorway, to differentiate from the Ultra model. Similarly, the laptop is powered by the Intel Lunar Lake processor and features increased touchpad real estate. It also features a 14-inch WUXGA touch display and a 5-megapixel web camera.

The EliteBook X G1i notably has upgraded security features within its AI-enhanced ISP+ webcam sensor that makes it easier to activate the device’s privacy screen. Prior models required users to press a key that would light up on the keyboard, suggesting the need for the privacy screen to be turned on. This device generation is more contextually aware, with an AI camera sensor that will detect people in the background and prompt users on whether to enable the privacy screen.

With the Lunar Lake system processing at 28 TOPS, HP demonstrated how the processor is able to perform 2x faster than the previous Meteor Lake at a similar task, such as AI image rendering, due to data being stored locally and securely on device. The EliteBook X G1i completed generating an image while a competitor device was still processing its prompt.

HP EliteBook X G1i and its variants includes 16GB memory, and up to 32GB LPDDR5X, as well as storage options including 512 GB up to 2TB PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe, 512 GB PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe, and 256GB15 PCIe NVMe. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, 5G, 4G LTE, and optional NFC. The device has power options including a 3-cell, 56Wh battery or a 6-cell, 68 Wh battery.

Ports include two Thunderbolt 4 with USB-C ports, one USB-C port, one USB-A port, one HDMI port, one stereo headphone/microphone combo jack, and one options nano SIM port

The HP EliteBook X G1i is expected to be available on HP.com in February starting at $1,999. The HP EliteBook X Flip G1i is expected to be available on HP.com in February starting at $2,249.
