Many 2020 flagships are already the talk of the tech industry, but Google’s mid-range device has already made an appearance online several months before its release.
Tech informants, @OnLeaks and 91Mobiles, shared Saturday, CAD-based renders of what will likely be the Pixel 4a, showcasing the continued development of Google’s low-cost smartphone line.
Feature highlights in the 5K renders include much thinner bezels and a hole-punch design to house the front-facing camera lens; which has already become a staple look for many device manufacturers. The near edge-to-edge bezels are an update not only from 3a but the Pixel 4 as well.
Outside of this change, the Pixel 4a may still closely resemble the Pixel 3a in overall build, with a rear fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm headphone jack, bottom-firing speakers, and a USB-C port. As per the renders, Google may also maintain a single-lens set up for its main rear camera, while the Pixel 4 has since upgraded to a dual-camera setup.
While not detailed in this leak, the Pixel 4a will likely come in standard and XL versions, much like the prior Pixel models. The leak does share potential measurements for the standard model, which include either a 5.7-inch or 5.8-inch display, and 144.2 x 69.5 x 8.2mm dimensions.
With the launch cycle fairly early, we are sure to hear more details about the Pixel 4a. The device may similarly be unveiled at Google I/O in May. While the industry reveled over the wallet-sparing price of the Pixel 3a, there are already rumors that the Pixel 4a could see a slight price bump.
91Mobiles suspects the device may feature hardware including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 or Snapdragon 765, 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage, and a 12.2MP rear camera. Depending on its processor, the source also ponders on whether the Pixel 4a could power 5G.
