“Sony Xperia 1 II 5G smartphone leads brands early 2020 product lineup”

Sony has announced a host of new products that it intended to showcase at Mobile World Congress this week, including its flagship smartphone, the Sony Xperia 1 II. The device is Sony’s first powering 5G connectivity. It also includes technology originally developed for Sony’s Alpha camera series, to upgrade the autofocus capabilities.

Stylized as “Xperia One Mark Two,” the Sony Xperia 1 II features a 6.5-inch 4K HDR display with a 21:9 aspect ratio and a 90Hz refresh rate, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage with microSDXC expansion up to 1TB, a 4,000mAh battery with an 18W Type-C fast charger, Qi fast wireless charging, a fingerprint sensor, 3.5mm jack, IP65/68 water resistance, and Android 10.

The Xperia 1 II includes a 12-megapixel main, a 12-megapixel telephoto, and a 12-megapixel ultrawide triple rear camera set up with Sony’s ZEISS lenses that support 20 fps AF/AE burst shots, human and animal eye autofocus, OIS, 3x optical and digital zoom, among other feature. Recording support includes 2K 120fps HDR and 4K 24/25/30/60fps HDR. Its front camera is an 8-megapixel lens.

The device will also support various editing apps, including Cinema Pro for video,  Camera Pro for images, and 360 Reality Audio for music.

The Xperia 1 II will release in Europe during the second quarter selling for €1,200 in black and purple color options.

Sony also announced its plans to release a device called the Xperia Pro that will be compatible with sub-6GHz 5G and mmWave 5G. The device will be a professional broadcasting device marketed to video creators. While they are still unofficial, it is expected to have specs similar to the Xperia 1 II; however, it will include 512GB of storage and an HDMI port. It will also have a viewfinder that can display apps.

Sony also announced the Xperia 10 II and the Xperia L4, which will release during the second quarter, selling for €370 and €200 respectively.

The Sony Xperia 10 II will feature a 6.0-inch OLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chip, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, a triple camera set up with a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 3,600mAh battery with 18W USB-C fast charging. It will be available in black and white color options.

The Sony Xperia L4 will feature a 6.2-inch LCD display, a Mediatek Helio P22 chip, 3GB of RAM, 64GB internal storage, a triple camera set up with a 13-megapixel wide-angle lens, a 5-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a 3,580 mAh battery. It will be available in blue and black color options.
