Details about the OnePlus 9 series continue to fall out of the rumor mill ahead of its March 23 launch event. Not only have press images of a new color option been shared by heads of the smartphone brand, but information about wireless charging support, and warranty logistics have also surfaced.
CEO, Pete Lau shared on Monday, images of the OnePlus 9 Pro model in a new color option called Morning Mist. From its looks the finish, which Lau said is glass, the handset may be quite fingerprint prone. The back panel will also have a gradient design, with the top having a the diffused, mist look, melding into a mirror finish for the bottom third, according to Android Authority.
This color option will join the others which have long been rumored. Recent leaks have showcased the OnePlus 9 Pro in Astral Black and Pine Green.
The standard OnePlus 9 is slated to come in color options, including Stellar Black, Arctic Sky, and Winter Mist. Reflective finishes may be a trend among the devices.
While OnePlus is going above and beyond with design for the 9 series, it is also expected to bring a considerable amount of power to the devices. The OnePlus 9 Pro, in particular, is may feature an impressive 50W wireless charging, according to Pricebaba via Ishan Agarwal. Prior rumors suggested the device would feature 45W, which is still an upgrade, in comparison to the 30W charging on the OnePlus 8 Pro.
Such a high wireless charging standard does sound plausible, considering OnePlus has already confirmed 65W wired charging for the both the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro, which will also include an in box Warp charger. However, the series launch date is close enough that one or two things may stay under wraps for the official reveal.
Both models are expected to feature a 4,500mAh battery battery, and the Pro model may also include reverse wireless charging.
The OnePlus 9 series is also set to have extra support to ensure devices are running in top form for several years. Pete Lau confirmed on Chinese social media that the devices will have two years of warranty support. They will also have two years of major software upgrades and three years of security patches.
It is already well known that the OnePlus 9 series will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chip and cameras developed by the famous lens brand, Hasselblad.
OnePlus has confirmed it will use a custom Sony IMX766 sensor for one of the primary cameras on the devices. The 50-megapixel lens will support “dual native ISO and supports Digital Overlap HDR, real-time HDR video processing, and 4K video at 120fps,” according to OnePlus. Lau has also discussed the “distortion-free” ultrawide photography users should expect from the devices.
Camera are expected to include a 48-megapixel Sony IMX789 main lens, a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 ultrawide lens, and a telephoto lens for the OnePlus 9. The OnePlus 9 Pro may include a 48-megapixel main lens, a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Both models are expected to feature a 16-megapixel front camera.
Other features are expected to include a 6.5-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate for the OnePlus 9, and a 6.67-inch QHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate for the OnePlus 9 Pro. Both models may support up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage.
