“Nokia 8.1 announced with Snapdragon 710 chip; USA availability unknown”

The Nokia 8.1 is now official with camera upgrades and Android 9 Pie among its primary features. The device will be available in mid-December, selling for 399 euros, or about $452. It will be available in Blue/Silver, Steel/Copper, and Iron/Steel color options.

Hardware specs for the Nokia 8.1 include a 6.18-inch Full HD+ display with HDR10 technology, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chip, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage with microSD expansion up to 400GB, a 3,500mAh battery with 18W fast charging, a USB-C port, and 3.5mm headphone jack.

Its main camera system is a 12-megapixel and 13-megapixel dual-lens setup, featuring optic image stabilization and ZEISS Optics its front-facing camera is an adaptive  20-megapixel lens.

As an Android One device, the Nokia 8.1 is guaranteed up three years of monthly security patches and two major system updates, meaning the device will see Android Q and R

Availability is primarily in Europe, while a model of the device under the name Nokia X7 is available in China. There is no word about whether the device will be available in the U.S. However, consumers can hope, considering the Nokia 7.1 became available in the U.S. in October.

HMD Global announced Nokia 8.1 this week, the global retail version of China’s Nokia X7. As of right now, there are no plans to launch the phone in the US, but that could change.
