“Samsung Galaxy M55 Highlights Mid-Range Firsts Including 45W Charging”

Samsung’s latest midrange device, the Galaxy M55 is now official with several specs typically known to higher-end models.

The device quickly follows many in Samsung’s other affordable lineup, including the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35, with the brand mix and matching high end features such as display, camera, design, and battery and charging with a lower price point.

The Galaxy M55 was introduced in Brazil in late March and highlights display tech, fast charging, and a 50-megapixel front camera among its primary features. The smartphone is the first mid-ranger to feature a 45W charger, which allows it to charge from zero to 70 percent in about 30 minutes. Samsung has traditionally paired even its flagship devices with 25W chargers.

The smartphone also includes a 50-megapixel front camera, another first for a Samsung mid-range device. The previous Galaxy M54, which was released in 2023 included a 32-megapixel selfie camera.

Additionally, the Galaxy M55 introduces an adaptive refresh rate to its 6.7 inch Super AMOLED+ display, with refresh rates ranging from 48 to 120hz. Its brightness peaks at 1000 nits, and also features an always-on display. The model is also bringing an under display fingerprint scanner to the Galaxy M line for the first time, as well as stereo speakers.

Powering the device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chip, yet another first for a Samsung mid-range smartphone. It has notably been used in other devices, such as the Motorola Razr 40.

Overall hardware includes 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, with microSD expansion support up to 1TB. The device includes a 5,000mAh battery, which is a small power drop from the 6,000mAh cell in its predecessor. However, the brand likely considers that its charging capability makes up for the loss. Software-wise, the Galaxy M55 includes the Android 14 operating system with a One UI 6.1 overlay.

Camera-wise the smartphone features a triple lens setup with a 50-megapixel main lens, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro lens. Notably, the main lens is truncated from the 108-megapixel lens on the Galaxy M54.

The Galaxy M55 is available in Dark Blue and Light Green color options. Having already been released in Brazil for BRL 2,999 (~$600), the smartphone is now set to launch in India, and likely other international markets.
