Apple has announced its World Wide Developers Conference will take place from June 7-11. The tech giant plans to showcase the latest developments in its iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS software.

The event, which typically takes place at Apple’s headquarters in Menlo Park, Calif., will take place online and will be free for all developers. This is the second consecutive year WWDC is taking place completely online, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In addition to its keynote, Apple will host a State of the Union, and will make available online sessions and 1:1 labs for developers, ” to interact with Apple engineers and designers to learn about the latest frameworks and technologies,” the company said in a statement.

Apple also detailed it will be accepting submissions for this year’s Swift Student Challenge through April 18. Young developers will be able to “demonstrate their coding skills” by creating a playground in the Swift programming language app for iPad and Mac, Apple said. Winners will receive exclusive WWDC21 outerwear and a pin set.

Also accompanying the WWDC confirmation are rumors about what Apple will annouce at the conference. In particular, many expect the company will unveil its iOS 15, iPadOS 15, watchOS 8, macOS 12, and tvOS 15 versions, as well as release developer betas of the upcoming software.

We may also see new iMacs and MacBook Pros outfitted with Apple Silicon processors. There is also word of Apple teasing a mixed-reality headset; however, rumors suggest the headset may not release to market until 2022.
