Apple has confirmed that it will host a virtual live stream event on April 8 at 1 p.m. ET (1 a.m. PT).
The event, which has the tagline ‘Peek Performance’ is expected to showcase a number of devices, including an iPhone SE 3 model with 5G capabilities, new iPads, and at least one new Mac model, though some speculate there might be several.
Apple didn’t share any product details for the event, but rumors have been circulating for some time. In particular, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, suggests the upcoming iPhone SE 3 might be announced with 3GB of memory, an LCD display, and Face ID, in addition to the aforementioned 5G support, while maintaining the same design as the current iPhone SE. Meanwhile, Bloomberg journalist, Mark Gurman suggests that the smartphone might include an A15 CPU chip, improved cameras, and a similar Touch ID feature to the prior iPhone SE model.
Apple is also expected to announce a new iPad Air model with an iOS 15.4 update allowing Face ID to function while users are wearing a mask, a new processor, and 5G capabilities.
Computer updates are also expected to be announced during the Apple Event; however, so much information is circulating it is hard to discern which are details for the upcoming event and which are details for later.
It is known that Apple is working on its next-generation M2 Silicon and that the brand might be working on entry-level MacBook Pro models. It is also likely that whatever is not showcased at this event might be announced in the fall.
