“Google Pixel 6a Benchmark Reveals Tensor Chip Among Top Specs”

A recent Geekbench 5 Benchmark has surfaced and appears to back up rumors that the upcoming Pixel 6a smartphone might feature the same Google Tensor chip that is included in the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro models that were introduced last October.

Reports have speculated as early as November 2021 that Google was planning a more affordable device with its Tensor chip and a less elaborate camera system. Now, more recent reports reveal that the “Pixel 6a” might also include 6GB of RAM in addition to running Android 12 as its software.

The benchmark reveals the Pixel 6a brand name, which has also previously been leaked, but also details that the smartphone is codenamed “Bluejay.” It also includes the Tensor Governor as “sched_pixel,” another code in step with the family of devices run by this chip, 9to5Google noted.

Overall, the benchmark results are similar to those of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro as the core configuration for the Tensor chip on the Pixel 6a is expected to be the same.

The Pixel 6a might feature a dual-rear camera with a 12.2-megapixel wide-angle lens, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, plus an 8-megapixel front facing lens. It might also include a 6.2-inch OLED display with an in-display fingerprint scanner and an overall similar design to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, with the exception of using plastic for its frame instead of metal and glass.

The Pixel 6a might be announced in May, possibly during the Google I/O timeframe.
