“OnePlus compact flagship rumored to launch with Qualcomm SoC”

While many smartphone trends are leaning larger, OnePlus might be looking to try its hand at a smaller device. Reports indicate that the brand may be working on a “compact flagship” model to add to its fleet, which is expected to compete with its larger display counterparts in terms of specifications.

Digital Chat Station shared details about this potential compact OnePlus flagship, indicating the device would feature a 6.31-inch flat OLED display and a 1.5K resolution. Rumors also suggest that the device may feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which would allow it to rival several standard and large-sized flagship smartphones. The Xiaomi 15 series, the ASUS ROG Phone 9, HONOR Magic 7 series, Nubia REDMAGIC 10 Pro, nubia Z70 Ultra, and Realme GT 7 Pro have already launched running the chipset. Other smartphones rumored to launch with the SoC include the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, the OnePlus 13, and the Iqoo 13.

The OnePlus compact flagship is set to be branded to Chinese consumers in the coming year. Reports indicate that this particular market is seeing a consistent trend toward smaller phones, with other devices also rumored for release in 2025.

OnePlus’ parent company, BBK Electronics also owns the smartphone brand OPPO, which is expected to release its own compact device called the OPPO Find X8 Mini in early 2025. Meanwhile, the OnePlus compact flagship is expected to launch during the second quarter of 2025. The devices will likely have similar designs; however, the OPPO Find X8 Mini may feature a MediaTek Dimensity 9400 SoC. This will allow the devices to target different markets, with the OnePlus device being more high-end, and the OPPO device being more midrange, according to Digital Chat Station.

Pundits note there are currently rumors surrounding the OnePlus Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro, which are expected to release in December, featuring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8 Elite chips, respectively. The older and more recent chips rumored for these devices indicate they will be pushed toward different markets. However, they are both expected to be more traditional in size, with the OnePlus Ace 5 slated to have a 6.78-inch 1.5K resolution display.
