Google’s Project Fi mobile service may be getting a slight rebrand if recent leaks are to be believed. Redditors have shared an image showing a card with the current Project Fi branding next to a card with its branding changed to “Google Fi”. Even the Fi logo seems to have a bit of an upgrade.
Though details about a rebranding have not been confirmed, the potential change may be in step with several of Google’s efforts to make its brand more consistent. The recently launched Pixel 3 smartphones are marketed under the Made by Google brand. Earlier this year, the company also rebranded its Android Pay mobile payment system to Google Pay. While Google introduced some updates to the Google Pay app, there was no major overhaul of the service.

There is no word on if or how any brand changes may affect prices on Project Fi. Currently, the service starts at $20 per line with data options of 2GB for $20, 4GB for $40 and 6GB for $60. There is a $15 charge for each additional line and a maximum of five lines per account.
With so few other details, there is no telling how Google may unveil the news of a potential project Fi rebrand. The company has the option of a fairly standard press release launch. However, such an update could make for interesting news at conventions, such as CES or Mobile World Congress, where Google has recently begun making appearances.
