“Xiaomi Mi 10 to launch in first quarter 2020 as brand celebrates 2019 sales success”

The upcoming Xiaomi Mi 10 will be available to market during the first quarter of 2020, according to the brand’s founder, chairman, and CEO, Lei Jun. The Chinese blog, My Drivers recently reported that the executive shared these details in an interview with the semiconductor brand, Qualcomm.

Jun noted Xiaomi’s dedication to its Qualcomm-powered 5G hardware rollout in 2020, with not only the Mi 10, but also the Redmi K30 5G, which will run the Snapdragon 765G chip. Xiaomi is set to release at least 10 5G smartphones throughout the year. Already, Xiaomi has set a milestone of selling over 427 million handsets powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon mobile platform.

Xiaomi Mi 10 press material

Xiaomi is doing well with smartphone sales overall, with reports stating that the brand has topped the Indian market in terms of units sold. The smartphone manufacturer consistently beat out major player, Samsung between July and November of 2019. Xiaomi has also taken fourth place among the largest device makers in Western Europe. The brand has seen a 90 percent sales growth in comparison to its prior year and now accounts for 17 percent of the Western European market, according to Xiaomi International president, Shou Zi Chew.

Xiaomi Mi 10 leaks and rumors

The Xiaomi Mi 10, in particular, has created quite a buzz as Xiaomi is set to announce the device on February 11 in Beijing, China, according to a report from GizChina. The publication recently shared press materials with details about the upcoming flagship, which indicates it will run the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip and will have a design inspired by the recently released Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha.

These details come by way of a leaked press poster that shows the look and preliminary specs of the device. The news has had the mobile industry buzzing due to the fact that Samsung is also set to announce its Galaxy S20 series on the same day, in Los Angeles, California. However, the launches likely won’t steal much shine from one another, considering the time difference and the fact that Xiaomi’s launch will take place well before Samsung’s. That may be the Xiaomi’s actual plan, to take advantage of a day when tech media will already be buzzing about new devices.

The rumor mill has been filled with details about several models expected for the Xiaomi Mi 10. In addition to a standard model, there will likely be a Mi 10 Pro model, which has recently surfaced in live leaks. It is currently unclear whether only one or both of the devices will power 5G, but the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro may support a 120Hz OLED display and super-fast 65W charging as highlight features.

The standard Xiaomi Mi 10 may include a 6.5-inch OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, 8GB and12GB RAM options and 128GB, 256GB and 512GB internal storage options, a 4,500mAh battery with 40W fast charging and 10W reverse wireless charging, as well as the Android 10 operating system with an MIUI 11 custom overlay. Its quad-camera set up will likely comprise of a 108-megapixel main lens, a 48-megapixel lens, a 12-megapixel lens, and an 8-megapixel lens.

The Xiaomi Mi 10 is expected to remain in an affordable price range with a potential starting price of $445.
