“Google Pixel 6 Specs Leak Shows Final Look Before Potential October Launch”

The latest news on the Pixel 6 series gives a solid list of specs for both the rumored Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro models.

The details come from leakster, Jon Prosser of FrontPageTech, who claims these are the final specifications of the device before launch. However, he also says the series launch likely won’t take place until closer to October.

While the timeframe is customary for Google’s more flagship type device launches, no official release date has been confirmed. For context, the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a were announced on September 30 last year, while the Pixel 4 launched October 15 the year prior.

The informant has also revealed Google has plans to commit to at least five tears of software updates for both the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro. These models would be the first to have such a long life cycle among the Android ecosystem. Many note that this puts Google in step with Apple in terms of its software support of its own, pure Android devices. Other Android-based smartphones may are another story, for now.

Sources told Prosser that the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are set to feature Google’s custom “Whitechapel” chipset, WiFI 6E, 5G, and are both Android Enterprise Recommended (AER) Certified.

The Pixel 6 is codenamed Oriel and may feature a 6.4-inch AMOLED display, 8GB of RAM, 128GB, and 256GB internal storage options, a 4,614mAh battery, and Android 12 software, in addition to a dual rear camera set up with 50-megapixel wide-angle lens and 12-megapixel ultrawide lens and 8-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Pixel 6 Pro is codenamed Racen and may feature a 6.71-inch Plastic OLED display, 12GB of RAM, 128GB / 256GB / 512GB internal storage options, a 5000mAh battery, and Android 12, in addition to a triple rear camera set up with a 50-megapixel wide-angle lens, a 48-megapixel telephoto lens, 12-megapixel ultrawide rear lens, and a 12-megapixel front-facing camera.

While no details have yet been confirmed, many have been corroborated by Steve Hemmerstoffer, AKA OnLeaks.

Prosser first also shared leaked renders of the Pixel 6 series in May, giving us a first look at the devices.
