LG has announced U.S. availability for its new 5G smartphone, the LG Velvet, which will sell at AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, starting at $599.
The device is among a new tier of premium mid-range devices running the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G to enable 5G connectivity at a relatively cheaper price than any current flagships.
AT&T will begin offering the LG Velvet July 22, while T-Mobile and Verizon will release the device later this summer. Verizon will also introduce an LG VELVET 5G UW model later this year to provide access to both its Ultra Wideband network and 5G low-band networks. Specific pricing and release details may vary by carrier.
Specs for the LG Velvet include a 6.8-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 20.5:9 aspect ratio, 2,460 x 1,080 resolution, and 395ppi, 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage with microSD expansion up to 2TB, a 4,300mAh battery with a USB-C port and Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ support, as well as Android 10 software. Color options include Aurora Gray, Aurora Silver, Aurora Red, and Pink White.
The device’s triple rear set up includes a 48-megapixel wide-angle lens, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 5-megapixel depth lens, as well as a 16-megapixel front camera. Some highlight camera features include time-lapse control, ASMR recording, voice bokeh, 3D AR stickers, and 3D photo effect.
Other features include an in-display fingerprint sensor and 3.5mm headphone jack, as well as IP68 water and dust resistance, as well as LG Pay, Stereo Speaker, LG 3D Sound Engine, AI CAM, and HDR10. In addition to 5G connectivity, the LG Velvet also supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a, b, g, n, ac, Bluetooth 5.1, and NFC.
The LG Velvet originally released in South Korea in May and also has availability in Europe. It is also expected to release across Asia, in the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.
