Samsung has announced yet another Unpacked event, which will take place on September 23. The manufacturer is expected to unveil the rumored Galaxy S20 Fan Edition, having shared a teaser hinting at the event being “Unpacked for Every Fan.” Those interested will be able to live stream the event from the Samsung Newsroom at Samsung.com at 10 a.m. ET (7 a.m. PT).
A number of leaks and rumors have surfaced for the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE in recent weeks. Once official, the device will join the ranks of Samsung’s truncated versions of flagship devices, following models, such as the Galaxy S10 Lite and the Galaxy Note 7 Fan Edition.
The Galaxy S20 FE could sell for anywhere between $699 and $800, though it is expected to release in both 4G LTE and 5G versions, meaning prices could vary. It will likely still be much more digestible than the four-figure starting prices on the original Galaxy S20 series.
The teaser hints at several color options for the Galaxy S20 FE, including Red, White, Orange, Lilac, Green, and Navy Blue. These have already been leaked by popular informants. Several sales listings have also surfaced for the device, including one directly from Samsung. The device has made stops at the FCC and Bluetooth SIG, all but confirming its impending launch.
With SM-G780F as the model number, rumored specs for the Galaxy S20 FE includes a 6.5-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip (a Samsung Exynos 990 chip for the 4G model), 6GB and 8GB RAM options and 128GB and 512GB internal storage options, a 4,500mAh battery with 15W fast charge support, dual SIM support, IP68 water resistance, and Android 10 software with a One UI 2.5 overlay.
The device may include a triple rear camera set up with a 12-megapixel Sony IMX555 main sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, as well as a 32megapixel front camera.
The Galaxy S20 FE is expected to launch sometime in the fourth quarter, possibly in October, with hints that the U.S. price may be around $750. There are also leaks that suggest Verizon is among the carriers that will offer the device stateside.
