“Upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G devices will be 5G powered by Verizon and made by Xiaomi”

Qualcomm’s latest SoC, the Snapdragon 750G is official as of Tuesday with improved 5G support among other connectivity upgrades for the 7-series.

The processor will support mmWave and sub-6 GHz 5G, which will allow easy performance on devices run on networks, such as Verizon. Download speeds clock in at 3.7Gbps max for 5G connectivity and upload speeds at 1.6Gbps. For LTE, download speeds max at 1.2Gbps and upload at 210Mbps.

Xiaomi is also set to be among the first manufacturers to release devices with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G chip. Devices powered by this processor are set to launch by the end of 2020.

Qualcomm first introduced its 7-series in late 2019, and several chips have become the staple for manufacturers looking to incorporate premium level processing into devices that won’t necessarily be flagships. As brands continue to put its absolutely top tier features in over $1,000 hands, consumers have found a renewed appreciation for devices in the $700 to $800 range, which previously denoted the flagship tier. Manufacturers have already developed over 275 designs with 7-series chips, with 140 of them being 5G enabled.

The Snapdragon 750G will support low-latency, HDR gaming, on-device AI, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.1 among its highlight features. Additionally, it will support SA and NSA modes, TDD, FDD and Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS), and global roaming and global multi-SIM.

Notable components include its Adreno 619 GPU, which Qualcomm claims can render graphics 10 percent better than the prior Snapdragon 730G, and the Kryo 570 CPU, with a 2.2GHz clock speed that reportedly performs 20 percent better than its predecessor. The 5th generation Qualcomm AI Engine supports smart camera and video, voice translation, advanced AI-based imaging, and AI-enhanced gaming experiences, with the ability to perform up to 4.0 trillion operations per second.

With a Spectra 355L ISP, the Snapdragon 750G supports 4K HDR videos and a pixel count up to 192-megapixels, as well as dual cameras up to 32-megapixels and 16-megapixels. Displays powered by this chip can also support a 120Hz refresh rate with FHD+ resolution, and a 60Hz refresh rate with QHD resolution. Other hardware support includes LPDDR4x RAM up to 12GB.
