Samsung may be looking to announce upcoming devices, including the Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 3 at a Galaxy Unpacked event in August, if recent reports are to be believed.
The Korean news outlet, Yonhap said on Sunday that Samsung is considering an earlier launch date for its latest Fan Edition device. The Galaxy S20 FE launched in late September last year. An August launch for the upcoming Galaxy S21 FE would essentially make it a stand in for the Galaxy Note series, which is known for its late summer unveilings.
Samsung said earlier this year it has put the Galaxy Note series on hiatus due to the global chip shortage that has come about amid the pandemic. The industry has seen the Korean manufacturer experiment with other projects, such as giving S-Pen stylus support to Galaxy S20 Ultra and Galaxy S21 Ultra flagship smartphone models. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 are also rumored to have S-Pen support.
Reports already suggest that Samsung may host a Galaxy Unpacked launch event on August 19, while analyst Ross Young recently shared on Twitter that the Galaxy S21 FE will likely go into production in July. This appears to be a viable timeline for the product launch.
Industry sources told Yonhap that the Galaxy S21 FE will sell for approximately 700,000 won, $624 U.S.
Current Galaxy S21 FE rumors suggest the device may feature either a 6.4-inch FHD+ resolution AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a Samsung Exynos 2100 chip or a Qualcomm Snapdragon Snapdragon 888 chip, 6GB/8GB RAM options, 128GB/256GB internal storage options, and a 4,500mAh battery, likely with fast-charging support. It may also feature a triple-camera setup, an S-Pen, and an official IP rating.
The Galaxy Z Flip 3 may feature a 1.83-inch cover display and a 120Hz internal foldable display made of UTG (Ultra Thin Glass). It may be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage, and a 3,300mAh battery with15W fast charging. Other features may includes an IP rating, a front-facing dual-camera setup, and an hole punch cut out for the internal camera. There have been live leaks of the device that surfaced recently.
Not much has come out about the Galaxy Z Fold 3 other than screenshots of unreleased marketing material, but the device is said to come with an under-display front-facing camera. While the foldable is rumored to have S-Pen support, it is not expected to have housing on its body for a stylus.
