“Google Pixel 5 No Longer Available After Pixel 5a Launch”

Google’s 2021 brand of devices will soon hit the market with the Pixel 5a set to on sale next Thursday and the Pixel 6 expected to release in the fall.

To make room for the new models, Google is already planning to discontinue its 2020 devices, including the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a (5G). The Pixel 5 is already labeled as sold out on Google’s online store and the brand has no plans to restock the smartphone. Google told media outlets, including The Verge and DigitalTrends that it will only continue selling the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a (5G) as long as supplies last.

“With our current forecasts, we expect Google Store in the U.S. to sell out of Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5 in the coming weeks following the launch of Pixel 5a (5G). These products will continue to be available through some partners while supplies last,” Google said in a statement.

DigitalTrends notes that other international retailers, including Carphone Warehouse and John Lewis, have also sold out of the Pixel 5.

The Pixel 4a (5G) is currently selling for $349, but there is no telling when it will sell out for good. The device is not available in its black color option on the Google online store, but the blue option is still on sale.

The Pixel 5a will sell for $449 when it releases to market and will serve as a solid replacement for both the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a (5G) in terms of design and camera quality. It also has some of its own unique tweaks, including a larger battery, in addition to the introduction of water resistance to the Pixel line.

However, the Pixel 5a will have retail availability only in the U.S. and Japan, so hopefully, the Pixel 4a (5G) will stick around long enough to fill in the gaps ahead of the arrival of the Pixel 6.
