“Google Pixel 6 Release Date Revealed in Material You Teaser?”

The latest teasers for the Pixel 6 series showcase some software design highlights for the upcoming smartphones, and might also hint at the launch date for the devices.

Google shared a YouTube clip recently, which shows off various themes from the Material You design language that will be featured in the Android 12 operating system for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The clip also notes that Google plans to outfit the devices with its own proprietary chip called Google Tensor.

The brand confirmed in August that it would officially announce the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro in the coming months but has not yet shared much in terms of concrete details.

However, the brand shared a second teaser on its @MadebyGoogle Instagram page, which could suggest that the devices might be announced on October 19. The image similarly showcases the Material You theme amid the recent Android 12 Beta release. Media reports have noted that many of the widgets read “Tue 19,” and October 19 happens to fall on a Tuesday. If accurate, there are also rumors the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro could go on sale on October 28.

Many were already expecting an October launch for the devices. Last year’s launch for the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a came on September 30, but this year’s Pixel 5a was announced on August 17. Prior to that, the Pixel 4 was announced on October 15, which was more in step with the brand’s pre-pandemic release that was a bit later in the year and closer to the holidays.

The sneak peek specs Google has shared include a flat 6.4-inch FHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate for the Pixel 6, in addition to a dual, primary and ultrawide, camera setup, Google Tensor Chip, Android 12 with Material You, three color options, and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The Pixel 6 Pro is set to feature a curved 6.7-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a triple camera setup with primary, ultrawide, and telephoto 4x lenses, three color options, and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
