The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are official, having been announced during Google’s live stream launch event on Tuesday. The two new additions to Google’s smartphone family introduce a number of new features, including the new Tensor chip and camera updates for both models, led with 50-megapixel main lenses. The devices also have a number of software features that pair with their cameras and overall design.

The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are currently available for preorder for $599 and $899 respectively. The Pixel 6 will be available in Sorta Seafoam, Kinda Coral, and Stormy Black color options, and the Pixel 6 Pro in Cloudy White, Sorta Sunny, and Stormy Black color options. They will go on sale on October 28 and will be available through Google, carriers including Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T, and retailers including Best Buy, among others.

The Pixel 6 features a 6.4-inch FHD+ display with a 20:9 aspect ratio, a Google Tensor chip and Titan M2 security chip, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage options, a 4,614 mAh battery, and Android 12 software.

Some highlight camera features on both the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro include Face Unblur, Motion Mode, and Real Tone, which use the machine learning processing capability of the Tensor chip to achieve various image styles, including creating the best photo out of similar blurred and clear shots, shooting ideal images in motion, and capturing the authentic skin tones of people of color. Both models also include the Magic Eraser feature, which can etch out unwanted subjects from the backgrounds of images with the swipe of a finger.

The Pixel 6 Pro features a 6.7-inch QHD+ display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, a Google Tensor chip, and Titan M2 security chip, 12GB of RAM, and 128GB, 256GB, 512GB UFS 3.1 storage options, a 5,003 mAh battery, and Android 12 software.

Similar to the Pixel 6, the 6 Pro supports battery life over 24-hours and over 48 hours in its extreme battery save mode. The devices also support 30W fast charging, or charging up to 50 percent in 30 minutes, Qi-certified fast wireless charging, and wireless battery share, to charge other devices.

The camera set up on the Pixel 6 Pro includes a 50-megapixel wide-angle lens with ƒ/1.85 aperture and 85-degree field of view, a 48-megapixel telephoto with a ƒ/3.5 aperture and 23.5-degree field of view, and a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens with ƒ/2.2 aperture and 114-degree field of view, while its front camera is an 11.1-megapixel lens with ƒ/2.2 aperture and 94-degree wide field of view.
