“Google Pixel 6 Recorder App Gets Three New Languages”

Google’s popular recording app now supports three new languages, on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, including French, German, and Japanese.

Previously, the app was able to record and transcribe recordings into text in English, but now Google has introduced these new language updates, likely in conjunction with its in-house Tensor mobile processor.

Additionally, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro users will be able to use voice to search for specific points within recordings and can pull up recordings using Google Assistant. However, as said, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are currently the only devices with additional language support at this time.

Even the Pixel 5a 5G, which launched just prior to the Pixel 6 series doesn’t have this support due to lacking the Google Tensor chip. Users can likely expect future Pixel devices to feature support of these languages and possibly additional languages, as there are already reports that Google is working on a future Tensor chip for devices down the road.

The current Android 12 also includes a feature called Live translate, which supports 55 languages. It is intended to seamlessly update text and speech into the desired language, allowing for inter-language communication between people in person or on calls, as well as private chats or messages.

The Tensor and AI-powered feature could potentially use Live translate to build upon its record transcription abilities on future devices. The main aspects Google would likely be looking to tackle on its recording app would include adding more languages and being able to automatically transcribe them in a non-English text.
