The Huawei P50 foldable series is now on sale globally with models including the Huawei P50 Pro and Huawei P50 Pocket now available in markets including Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and South America.
While the series was originally announced in late July 2021 and has been on the the market in China for several months, availability for the various international models didn’t begin until late January.
Media reports indicate that consumers can expect Huawei P50 foldables to come with a number of deals, such wearable or earbud accessories, warranties or subscriptions.
The Huawei P50 Pro will be available in a 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage variant with gold or black color options and €1,199 price tag. Customers will also be able to purchase the device’s 50W wireless fast charger for €50, a €80 drop from its original price.
The Huawei P50 Pocket will be available in two models, a 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage variant with a white color and a €1,299 price tag, and a 12GB RAM and 512GB internal storage variant with a gold color and a €1,599 price tag.
The P50 Pro is Huawei’s flagship of the foldable series, with the P in its name representing its photography focus.
The device features a quad-camera setup with a 50-megapixel wide angle main lens, a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, with 3.5x optical zoom and 7x lossless zoom, a 13-megapixel ultrawide angle lens, and a megapixel black and white lens.
The P50 Pocket includes a circular preview display on its outer panel below the camera module as a highlight feature.
Huawei remains affected by its the U.S. sanction against its products, which prevents the company from using Google Mobile Services. Huawei has developed its own operating system, Harmony OS, which it uses in China; however, models of the Huawei P50 series will release with EMUI 12 running over Android 11. Huawei has indicated that Harmony OS updates for the Huawei P50 series are in the pipeline.
