“Motorola ‘Frontier’ Release Date Confirmed for July with 200-MP Camera”

Summer is set to be filled with device launches, as Motorola has confirmed it will announce a new smartphone in July. The device is set to feature new anticipated specifications, including the recently announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip and a massive 200-megapixel main camera lens.

The Lenovo-backed brand Motorola, confirmed the launch period for its long-rumored smartphone, codenamed “Frontier,” with Lenovo’s Chinese Mobile Business Group general manager, Chen Jin having taken to the social media platform, Weibo on Monday to tease the announcement event and detail the device’s camera specs.

The main camera is set to be Samsung’s 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP1 image sensor, which it announced in September 2021. Samsung said at the time that the lens was available for sampling but no brands had committed to using it for devices. However, now that Motorola has confirmed its Frontier smartphone will use the lens, it surely won’t be long before other manufacturers are confirming their use of the component.

With the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip having been announced last Friday, several device brands, including Xiaomi, OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, Realme, and Samsung have noted their collaboration with the component maker. Similarly, have several smartphones, such as the upcoming Xiaomi flagship, and now the Motorola Frontier been more closely connected to the SoC.

Other rumored specs on the Motorola Frontier include a 144Hz OLED display, and a 4,500mAh battery with 125W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Accompanying its 200-megapixel main camera is expected to be a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens, in addition to a 60-megapixel front-facing camera.

Reports indicate that the Motorola Frontier July launch will focus on the Chinese market. If there is a North American release, it might follow later.
